Privacy Policy
Focus Compass is local-first by default. This page explains what stays on your device and what happens if you enable optional sync.
Last updated: February 2026
Summary
No accounts. No tracking.
We do not require sign-up and we do not run third-party analytics or ad trackers in the app.
Your data stays on your device
Projects, tasks, and notes are stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB), including offline usage.
Sync is optional
If you enable sync, the app connects only to the server that you configure.
What data is processed
Your project content is not sent to our servers by default. When you access the site, infrastructure may process basic HTTP request metadata (IP, user agent, timestamp) to deliver the service and protect it from abuse.
Local storage
Workspace data is stored in your browser via IndexedDB. Non-sensitive app settings (for example theme or dismissed welcome popup state) are also kept locally.
You can delete your data at any time by clearing this site's storage in your browser.
Optional Sync (Bring Your Own Server)
When sync is enabled, data is sent to the server you selected. We do not provide a mandatory centralized backend.
The sync server is open-source and available on GitHub: focus-compass-sync-server
Your rights
You can export and delete your data through in-app tools and browser settings.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use your project data for advertising profiling.
