Privacy Policy
Focus Compass is built to be quiet, local-first, and private by default. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the Service.
Last updated: January 2026
Summary
No accounts. No tracking.
We don't require sign-up and we don't run third-party analytics or ads in the app.
Your content stays on your device
Workspaces, projects, tasks, and notes are stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB) for offline use.
Sync is optional
If you enable sync, the app connects to the server URL you provide.
1) Data We Process
Focus Compass does not require an account and does not collect your project content on our servers by default.
When you access focus-compass.com, our infrastructure necessarily receives basic request data (IP address, user agent, and request timestamps) to deliver the Service and help protect it from abuse.
2) Your Data on Your Device
Your workspaces, projects, tasks, and notes are stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB (via Yjs IndexedDB persistence). This is what makes Focus Compass offline-first.
Certain non-sensitive app state is also stored locally, including theme hue, whether you have dismissed the welcome dialog, the last update-check result, and per-workspace camera position.
You can delete local data at any time by clearing this site's storage in your browser settings.
3) Cookies
Focus Compass does not use cookies for analytics or advertising. The Focus Compass web app does not set cookies.
4) Optional Sync (Bring Your Own Server)
If you choose to enable sync, the app will connect to the sync server URL you configure and exchange your workspace data with that server.
We do not operate a default sync backend for you. The operator of your chosen sync server controls its logging, security, and privacy practices.
5) Images & External Content
Images you attach to projects can be stored locally on your device. If you enable sync and your server supports image upload, the app uploads images to your chosen server so they can be available on other devices.
If you use external links or external image URLs, your browser will connect to those third-party domains. The default demo workspace loads placeholder images from picsum.photos.
6) Your Rights & Choices
You can export your data using in-app tools and delete it by clearing local site storage.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
The Service is not intended for children under 13.
7) Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
